Brittany Ferries’ flagship Pont-Aven is gearing up to celebrate the ‘most wonderful time of the year’ with two festive cruises sailing out from Portsmouth, with prices starting from £135 per person.

Christmas in magical Antwerp:

Brittany Ferries’ Christmas cruise sets sail from Portsmouth on Christmas Eve destined for the Flemish capital. Following departure, an evening of entertainment awaits, with the chance to explore the facilities on-board the luxurious flagship of the Brittany Ferries fleet, Pont-Aven.

Christmas morning will be spent opening presents with the possibility of a late visit from Santa whilst cruising up the River Scheldt towards Antwerp’s cruise terminal for an approximate 14:00 arrival. At lunchtime, guests have the option of enjoying a delicious Christmas feast. Once happy and full, passengers can continue with the festivities and go ashore and join-in with local celebrations at the market and fair or remain on board where there will be a full programme of Christmas entertainment to enjoy.

The market is less than five minutes from the Grote Markt too, famous for shops, restaurants and imposing Renaissance buildings. A little further, one finds the Cathedral of Our Lady with its striking gothic steeple rising 123 metres and hosting a series of paintings by Rubens. Meanwhile, down by the river, the medieval fairy tale fortress of Het Steen stands guard to protect this remarkable city.

On Boxing Day, once again passengers will have the option to explore Antwerp or if they wish to do so, take a coach trip to visit the beautiful city of Bruges – No matter what, there will be plenty to see and do in these amazing Belgian cities with all they have to offer.

Passengers will bid farewell to Belgium and begin their journey home at approximately 21:00. But the festivities won’t stop there as there is plenty of time to dine and party the night away on board.

Welcome the new year in style:

On 29 December, the Pont-Aven sets sail from Portsmouth for a three-night new year cruise to the beautiful Norman port town of Honfleur. Passengers will have the chance to settle into their cabins, and enjoy a meal in one of the ship’s restaurants in preparation for the celebrations.

You’ll have the chance to spend the day in Honfleur on the 30th. Long a favourite with painters such as Monet and Boudin, Honfleur exudes charm. The small harbour or Vieux-Bassin is lined with half-timbered houses, which in-turn lead to narrow cobbled alleys adding to the rich history of the seaside town. Its claim to fame is the church of Sainte Catherine, the largest surviving wooden church in France. Honfleur is the perfect place to celebrate this enchanting time of year with plenty of shops, art galleries and brocantes (antique shops), plus a wealth of cafés, bars and restaurants around the harbour.

On new year’s eve, guests will have the chance to explore more of Honfleur. There is also an optional excursion to historic Rouen. With a wide selection of shops, cafés, bars and restaurants, Honfleur and Rouen are magnificent backdrops to celebrate the festive period. Once, back on board; enjoy a gourmet gala dinner before toasting the new year twice, once in French time, then again in British.

On new years day, whilst sailing back to Portsmouth guests can relax on-board with the chance to take advantage of the deals in the boutiques or catch up with the latest releases in the cinemas.
