On Tuesday 18th January 2022, the French tricolor was raised aboard Brittany Ferries’ newest ship Salamanca. The reflagging signifies that the vessel is now officially French, registered in France, part of the French merchant fleet, and crewed by French sailors.

Brittany Ferries has confirmed it is in the final stages of negotiation for the sale of Cap Finistère to Italian shipping company GNV. It comes as the Roscoff-based company prepares to welcome its next ship to the fleet. Salamanca will arrive in Bilbao in the next few days, completing her six-week voyage from China.

Salamanca will arrive at the port of Suez, at the southern end of the canal on New Year’s Day 2022, before entering the canal a day later. This follows a 7,529-nautical mile journey from China crossing the Yellow Sea, East China Sea, South China Sea and Indian Ocean.
