• Brittany Ferries launches Time of Their Lives sail-and-stay break to the Ȋle de Ré
In her latest film, Dame Joan Collins sails with Brittany Ferries to France looking for adventure. Now, to celebrate the launch of the The Time of Their Lives, the company has put together a sail-and-stay break that replicates her character’s voyage of discovery. It includes two nights on the glamorous Ȋle de Ré where she and co-star Pauline Collins find love, adventure and true friendship.
The Time of Their Lives will be showing in cinemas across Britain from 10 March, with advance screenings on board Brittany Ferries ships from 9 March. In the story, the superstar actresses sail from Portsmouth to Caen, before heading south in a Citroen 2CV. Love interest comes en route courtesy of Italian heartthrob Franco Nero, before a dramatic finale on the Ȋle de Ré.
Scenes were shot on board cruise-ferry Mont St Michel last summer, to the delight of 500 passengers and French Captain Bertrand Cuvillier who hosted the stars for breakfast during the crossing: “It was my pleasure to dine with these wonderful actresses, and for my crew to host the film entourage last year,” he said. “We are delighted to be showing The Time of Their Lives on board. Of course the leading ladies are the stars, but you will understand that my favourite supporting actress will always be my ship.”
Dame Joan and Pauline Collins, accompanied by a 40 strong film crew, shot in the bar, on deck and from the port, all scenes that cinema-goers will see on the big screen. Now Brittany Ferries is offering those seeking adventure, and perhaps a little amour, a sail-and-stay break that follows the journey taken by the stars to an idyllic island, home to the rich and famous.
Starting from £199 per person, Brittany Ferries Time of Their Lives tour is a three-night break, including two nights bed and breakfast in a hotel on the Ȋle de Ré. The price includes overnight crossing from Portsmouth to Caen with cabin on board and return daytime sailing.
Film fans can choose an extra night or sail from an alternative port, like Poole or Plymouth. For a little additional glamour, they may also choose a luxurious 5-star hotel option for a £50 per person supplement.
The offer is available up until 30 June 2017. For more details, including terms and conditions, or to book a trip visit the website here: http://www.brittany-ferries.co.uk/offers/the-time-of-their-lives-film

About Brittany Ferries
Brittany Ferries is a passenger car and freight service operating from eleven ports, linking four countries: UK – France, UK – Spain and Ireland – France. The company was set up by a collective of French farmers as a freight-only operator, running from Roscoff in Brittany to Plymouth with the first crossing taking place on 1 January 1973, the date the United Kingdom joined the EEC (forerunner to the EU).
The aim then was to bring French agricultural products to a wider British market. However, the service quickly developed into an operation carrying hundreds of thousands of British tourists, eager to experience the delights of Brittany and Normandy. Today Brittany Ferries is the market leader on the Western Channel for passengers and for freight. It is also a leading supplier of ferry-inclusive motoring holidays to France and Spain.
