Ferry company Brittany Ferries took five awards at the 2022 British Travel Awards which took place in London on Tuesday 29th November. Four are gold, with one silver.

The operator, which offers 14 routes linking the UK, France, Spain and Ireland was named Best UK ferry company, acknowledging the convenience of its sailings, the exceptional comfort, experience and dining on board its ships, and the professionalism of its onboard crew and shoreside personnel.

It was also recognised for its range of sail-and-stay ferry and accommodation packages in France, Spain and Portugal. In the competitive holidays categories, it was awarded best travel company for family holidays, best travel company to Southern Europe, and best travel company to Central/western Europe. It also received the silver award for its Summer Sun holidays.

Christophe Mathieu, chief executive officer, Brittany Ferries comments: “Thank you to British holidaymakers for an amazing five awards. This is a massive vote of confidence in the quality of our ships, our holidays, and above all my colleagues ashore and on board.

“It means a such a lot, coming after two turbulent years in which travel wasn’t so easy but we continued to operate. But especially because the votes come from the people who know us best: our customers. We hope, of course that Best Ferry Company will encourage travellers who don’t yet know us to try us in 2023, and see what makes us different. They will be very welcome on board our ferries.

“We know too that this isn’t just a vote of confidence in us, but it’s also a clear sign of the attractiveness, variety and warm welcome of the beautiful destinations we serve, just across the water in Western France, Northern Spain, Ireland and beyond.”

The British Travel Awards is the largest awards programme of its type in the UK, that recognises the top companies in travel. Its categories span all types of holiday experience, including transport, destination, cruise, customer service, holiday extras and accommodation, with customers voting for the winners.

About Brittany Ferries
Brittany Ferries was conceived in 1972, starting life as a freight-only service on 2nd January the following year. The first ferry (Kerisnel) linked Roscoff in Brittany with Plymouth in the South of England and carried a cargo of artichokes and cauliflowers. Since then the company has progressively launched, then strengthened its shipping routes. This year, Brittany Ferries celebrates 50 years in operation. Millions of passengers and businesses transporting goods by sea across the so-called Atlantic Arc (France, UK, Spain and Ireland) rely on the links forged over the decades. In addition to cutting congestion and emissions on busy roads, these motorways-of the sea have helped enrich local communities, creating jobs and nurturing international tourism.
