An open letter to colleagues, customers and friends – CEO Christophe Mathieu

27 March 2020

Dear colleagues, customers and friends,

The current crisis is probably the most serious that most of us will have experienced in our lifetimes.

In unprecedented times, and in the face of impossible circumstances, we are sometimes forced to take extraordinary decisions. Our decision to suspend passenger services was one of these. It was not one we came to lightly: however it was necessary to protect customers and colleagues. And of course it followed progressively tighter restrictions imposed on travel throughout Europe.

We never like to let our customers down. So to all passengers affected by these changes, I would like once again to offer my sincere apologies. Our teams are working hard to contact everyone on affected upcoming sailings. And I am grateful to every one of them for their hard work at this difficult time, as well as to customers for their understanding and patience.

Brittany Ferries started life as a freight company, transporting goods across the Channel. So today I would also like to pay tribute to dedicated teams that remain on board, providing lifeline services connecting the UK, France, Spain and Ireland. In the international effort to manage this dreadful crisis their contribution must be recognised. Thank you.

Behind the scenes, my teams are working tirelessly to secure our long-term future, while protecting the welfare of teams, their families and the communities we serve.  We are determined to be the company that you begin your holiday with in the future, when the stormy seas of the current situation have calmed. And they will pass in time.

We very much look forward to welcoming you back on board Brittany Ferries soon. Our beautiful destinations await on the other side.

Take care and stay safe,

Christophe Mathieu

Brittany Ferries CEO
